What is LAMP+D?
Open source software components that are installed onto your SiteBasin server. The acronym refers to the first letters of Linux (the operating system), Apache (web server), mySQL (database), PHP (programming language) + Drupal. The LAMP components provide lower level services that Drupal relies on.
What's so special about including LAMP+D updates?
If you don't have a tech background, think of it like your car - hosting with SiteBasin is like leasing a car and getting free oil changes and tuneups for the life of your lease. A good deal for a reasonable cost lease.
Which versions of Drupal do you support?
The SiteBasin shared service supports Drupal 6. The dedicated service supports Drupal 6 or Drupal 7, although Drupal 7 is highly recommended over Drupal 6.
What do I get when I buy your dedicated server package?
You will receive a fully functional Drupal site with a standard set of modules enabled so you can start adding content. The Garland theme will be setup as the default theme unless you have made other arrangements with us to add and select a different theme. Based on your business requirements, additional contributed modules may be installed to extend the functionality of your site. If you need help getting started, don't worry - we will help you get up to speed.
When do you perform security upgrades to my server?
Security upgrades are performed between 10pm and 2am Central Time, usually within one business day of the upgrades being released. Different maintenance windows are available for dedicated server customers upon request.
Do you host WordPress or other CMS platforms besides Drupal?
There are no plans to do so, although civiCRM is a Drupal-related open source platform that might be added in the future, if there is demand.
Will you host my Drupal site on Windows instead of Linux?
No. There is a limited amount of support for Windows within the Drupal community because it is a proprietary platform. SiteBasin has chosen to focus exclusively on open source solutions.
Can I install any Drupal module or theme I want into my site?
Dedicated server customers can install any contributed module or theme. Note that modules or themes still in development, and your own custom developed modules and themes, are not included in the LAMP+D updates performed by SiteBasin. Shared server customers can have additional modules and themes installed upon request.
Why should I host with SiteBasin when there are lots of other Drupal hosts out there?
If you can find another host that will keep your Drupal site patched with security updates at the same price or lower, let us know. Otherwise, you are risking a security breach and the reputation of your business and brand by not doing the updates.
I want to host on Ubuntu or another flavor of Linux. Will you support that instead of CentOS?
